Tafseer Quran Surrah An Nas, 114

''My Tafsser al Quran Project''

Surrah an Nas (The Mankind)

Assalamualaikum wbt. Hi?

Bismillah. Today I'm going to do tafseer Quran for surrah An Nas. The surrah with six ayyah and it's Madaniyyah. Since from previous of others Prophet, most peoples believe in Firaúnn as their God than anything else. The king who had a superpower and support on black magic to protect themselves. The communities then praised him as the king of kingdom and only God to them, this continues from generation to the next. But, Firáunn still a human that will be die because of the disease or old age. Then they change to believe in statue who stay in one place, in animals who they can talk to, in air or rain or sun which bring benefit to them. Their God multiply from time to time. Subhanallah.

This surrah is the answer for above situation-shortly explain that only one God, Allah, and He is for all the mankind. Before I forgot, there is comparison between this surrah and surrah Al Falaq. This surrah more about the harm from controlled thought of own inner side, then surrah Al Falaq about the harm from uncontrolled thigs from the outside part. There is also continuation relationship between them- look out for My tafseer Al Falaq. Alright, first three ayyah An Nas said about Allah the Greatest and the last three ayyah said about obvious statement of Syaithan will always attacking human. Let's see:

Bismillahirrahmannirrahim.
1-Say O Prophet Muhammad, "I seek refuge in the Lord of humankind''.
''Rabb'' is preferred as the above from average or the nourisher, the sustainer, the cherisher. The al-Mu'awwidhatan/ Versus of Refugee known as the last two surrah in Quran and there are al Falaq and this surrah. It shows the seek of protection and for calmness.
Lesson to learn: Who's need protection? Obviously a human. This show the gap relationship between us as a slave or the weak one to the one Great Creator, Allah. Then why do you think you're better than anyone else? Why need to put on rank in social status? Why care about your title? We all are the same in His eyes, the little sinner. But, the only differentiate among us is how we keep our deen alive. MasyaAllah.

2-The Master of humankind.
From the Creator-He is also the ''Maliki''-Master or the King of human. If Firáun hold the power to their people, but Allah more powerful than that. He own us and in controlled all the humankind and this universe too.
Lesson to learn: Allah always with our side, He cares for all of us. So, keep do the compulsory command (the King ordered) and avoid all the don'ts. If Allah doesn't care about single human, he will became nothing. His deen floating without a guide and make harm to himself and others.

3-The God of humankind.
Then, He also the ''Ilah''-the God. Summarization from these three ayyah; Allah is Ar-Rabb/Rububiyyah, Al-Malik/Malikiyyah and Al-Ilah/ Uluhiyyah. Allah shows the great examples that no one will have that power or even to any magic for it.
Lesson to learn: Lets see how work happens in daily life-In asking granted thing that we really wants, first we ask from our senior or superior. Then, bring that matter to the manager and lastly to whom the head of company. It have the steps but in Allah view; all the steps are belongs only to him. The God symbolize that He doesn't have a partner or someone above Him.

4-From the evil of lurking whisper.
''Was-was''-the doubtful whisper from Syaithan about all good things who's that will always attack the human. It then absorbed to the ''Khannas''-the hiding one. It refer to our mind; the inner thoughts.
Lesson to learn: In maintain or controlled from starting any bad perspective to others, feed mind the necessaries info only. Don't do gossiping, immerse in bad news, social media addiction or etc. If we put one feet in that trap, it will pull us more deeper and lost in it without our intention. So, start fresh and push to positivity intelligence Muslims.

5-Who whisper evil into the breast of mankind.
After rush in people mind, Syaithan go to the breast-the heart specifically. It's go messing around and put your emotional and feeling up and down. All the temptations and desires are play the roles.
Lesson to learn: Control your own emotions, if not others will! Keep your heart strong by exercises, logically. Don't keep a bad experiences, trauma incidents, or etc to yourself because no one will help you then. You can go to counseling, therapy, the trusted one or even come back to Allah. The calmness of mind, soul and emotion is the best things that a person needed most.

6-From among the jinn and humankind.
Allah said directly here that ''Jinn''-the obvious enemy to human. We must not be affected by them, so  keep close relationship to Allah-to protect you. And also harm that derived from ''Nas''-among the human too.
Lesson to learn: The biggest influenced to people is the one that exist in front of us-the families, the friends, the partner, the colleagues and etc. From birth till now, we learn everything from what people around us do. Our circle are reflection to ourselves, are they always remind you of Allah? Are they say a good words? Are they repeating surrah Al Falaq-gossiping and envy one? Be careful; even if you don't want to like it, one day you will be like them. To avoid this, keep away from them or lessen the met time from before. Save yourselves before you save others.

MasyaAllah, see you in next surrah!

Gotta be me, sleep in Islamic way

Assalamualaikum,

What do you think about your sleep time? Are you five to six hours sleeper or seven to eight hour sleeper? Or more or less than I'm said? How about your quality of sleep? Are you satisfied enough with the amount of your sleep? When I'm early 20-an, I really focus on my quantity of sleep. I can sleep anywhere, everywhere I put my place on. And now after around 28 years old, I realized I should focus more on my quality of sleep to versus my quality of health. Then, I put myself in sleep for only five to hours per day and do the rest for productive activities. Here, I want to explore and search more about the sleep pattern, Islamic thought and built up a healthy sleep lifestyle habit. Leggo!

I still in progress about new habit-recheck the preparation for next day activities. Why I'm doing this is because I want to plan my day ahead of time, and when the day happened I know what to expect either for good nor bad part. Later, I just do as exact plans and I expect less surprised for unnecessary things. You know what, I really enjoy doing these, its fun even to small things; prepare my bag, ready my clothes, check out what foods I will eat and etc. It's really play with my mind to be exciting for the next day. Everyone should do this!

The above part you could make it before Isya'. This is because after Isya', lessen or no activity involved. It is pretty hard actually because some big events happened during this time, the best TV show too, the late night hang out with friends and etc. The Prophet (pbuh) said, “One should not sleep before the night prayer, nor have discussions after it” [SB 574]. Also, mandatory to pray Isya' before go to bed. Yes, you can imagine how people hates delayed in their demand; it makes sense to our Creator. Allah loves punctuality in Muslims prayer.

Sleep after Isya' impersonate how early the person end their day. This is because if you sleep early, there is no excuses not to wake up for Fajr prayer. It depends on your country time, in Malaysia, to get normal seven to eight hours sleep, a person should go to bed around nine or ten o'clock night time. I preferred sleep a little only or you better die if you want to sleep in entire period of life. The Prophet (pbuh) was asked, “Do people of Heaven sleep?” He answered: “Sleep is the brother of death. People of Heaven do not sleep”

In preparation yourself with brush teeth and flossing, wash face and apply night cream, took most comfortable clothes; you need to clean the bed before laying down. Prophet (pbuh) said, “When any one of you goes to bed, he should take hold of the hem of his lower garment and then should clean (his bed) with the help of that and then should recite the name of Allāh” [SM 271]. It is also to make sure no sharp objects like your kids toys or book or pens or pencil or water bottle or even your own phone on the bed. Shut out yourself from all the devices or world and bring calmness to sleep in. Prophet (pbuh) said, “Put out lamps when you go to bed, shut the doors, and cover water and food containers” [SB 5301]

What is sleeping position recommended in Islam? Sahih Muslim, Prophet (pbuh) told him, “Whenever you go to bed, perform ablution like that for the prayer, and lie on your right side” [SM 2710]. I think everyone already noted about this, but how about this; “When the Prophet (pbuh) wants to go to sleep, he puts his right hand under his cheek” [SM 2713]. MasyaAllah, nice to know because it sunnah. This for reminded, The Prophet (pbuh) told a man who was lying on his stomach, “Allāh and his Prophet dislike this position” [Sunan Al-Tirmdhi 2768].

Dreams in Islam? The Quran uses several terms to refer to dreams, such as ru’ya (vision) (verses 17.60, 37.105, 48.2), hulm (dream) (verses 21.5, 52.3), manam (sleep) [verse 37.10], and bushra (tidings) [verse 10.6]. Sūra 12, Yussuf (Joseph), Sūra 37, As-Sāffāt (Ranks)-Prophet Abraham to sacrifice his son, Sūra 8, Al-Anfāl (Spoils)-Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) dream night before a particular battle (Badr). The night journey (Laylat al-Mi’raj) in Sūra 17 (Al-Isrā) says, “Glory be to Him (Allāh) Who took His slave (Muhammad) for a journey by night from Al-Msajid Al-Harām (in Mecca) to Al-Masjid Al-Aqsā (in Jerusalem) whose surroundings We have blessed, that We might show Him (Muhammad) some of Our signs” [verse 17.1].

I found several more about these subject; Ibn Sirin (653-728 C.E.) is the best-known dream interpreter in Islamic history-that dreams appearing in the last third of the night are more truthful.  The Prophet (pbuh) said, “A good dream vision of a pious man is a forty-sixth part of prophecy” [SM 2263].  “A good vision (ru’ya) is from Allāh and a bad dream (hulm) is from Satan; so if one of you sees anything (in a dream which he dislikes), he should spit on his left side thrice and seek refuge with Allāh from its evil, and then it will never harm him” [SB 3118).

Ibn Arabi (1164-1240 C.E.) proposed a metaphysical system that merged Islamic theology and Greek philosophy. Ibn Khaldūn, a great Muslim scholar and thinker (1332-1402 C.E.), considered dream interpretation to be a science. He classified three types of dreams: (1) dreams Allāh (Allāh), clear and unmistakable in their meaning and content; (2) dreams Angels, received in the form of allegory and require interpretation; and (3) dreams from Satan, confused dreams that are futile. One should share their their dreams with those they trust, Prophet said, ''If one sees a good dream, let him expect good, and not tell it except to those he likes'' (Muslim).

Continuation to our topic, after all the sleeping process; it's time to wake up. The Prophet (pbuh) went to bed, he said, “O’ Allāh, it is with Thine Name that I live and it is with Thine Name that I die”, and when he awoke, he said, “Praise is due to Allāh, Who gave us life after our death (sleep) and unto Thee is resurrection” [SM 2711]. Be grateful after get a quality of sleep and opportunity of life for that day. In the same time, take a deep breath to refill back your body with oxygen, drink some water to stay hydrated and do little stretching. Now, get out of the bed and do Fajr prayer!

The Prophet said, “Yawning is from Satan. If you are about to yawn, you should try to stop it as much as possible. If you yawn, Satan will laugh” [SB 3115]. This is why you should take an afternoon nap time. The Prophet (pbuh) said, “Take a short nap, for Devils do not take naps” [Sahih Aljamie. Alalbani 1647]. “Sleeping early in the day betrays ignorance, in the middle of the day is right, and at the end of the day is stupid.” (Fath Al-Bari, p.73). Sahih Al-Bukhari (SB) says, “We used to offer the Jumua (Friday) prayer with the Prophet and then take the afternoon nap” [SB 5923]. Cognitive & memory consolidation. The short 10 min can improve alertness and performance for 2.5-4 hours.

MasyaAllah. May Allah bless us with above practices and get a quality of sleep in our life. Aamin.

The Magical of Fajr Prayer

Assalamualaikum,

Prayer is fundamental practices for every Muslim, and there is five mandatory daily prayer-Fajr, Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isya'. InsyaAllah here I want to discuss about Fajr prayer or called as Dawn prayer. It consist only two rakat, known as the most short prayer between other four. But, still the most heavy and hardest prayer from all of that. Yes it is, because it is the pray before sunset. We're just to comfortable in our dreams and obviously doesn't want to be wake up for the reality. In the same meaning; People rather be stay in complete darkness rather than wake up and walk for your light or journey, this is what happens in every daily life. May He guide us.

When you think of how hard is to wake up for Fajr prayer, read here post- Fajr prayer is hard? There are several wise words from Prof Dr Abdul Malik Karim Amarullah, Hamka for you to think about. Then, I hope those meaningful article will become the drive or the one why for you to change in Fajr prayer. InsyaAllah start to wake up in time, later make a mid of it then turn to early rise for Fajr prayer. This is not right away, but slowly. In fact to become its as routine need at least six to twelve weeks for normal person. But if you passionate about it, you will get better faster than stated. MasyaAllah. May Allah bless us and our intention.

In the Adhan, called prayer, you will hard differences between the normal one. It is one line, ''Salah is better than sleep''. Here, Allah remind or keep telling us about His command to get up from the comfort of one's bed and go do salah. Stop from here, do you get a point that we already was set our mind that you wake up for Fajr prayer and not because you have go to work or school. This kind of energy gives you a voluntary feeling, from the heart and not by forced it. Everyone should applied this positive vibes; also I wish that every parents know about this purpose and teach their kids the true right information. Hey, every single soul need a best food for to their mind-especially to get away from fear or unnecessary things.

Before I forget, in the hadith of Aisha RA, the Prophet said, "Two rakat of prayer before the Fajr prayer are better than the world and whatever is in it''. This is from Abu Hurairah RA, he says Prophet S.A.W said, ''Listen carefully Muslims that have shifts over you like as in angels come and stay with you for the night and then they go up to the heavens-and other angels come and stay during the day and they go up for the night. The shift swap times are Fajr and Asr''. ''Then Allah S.W.T asks them, how did you leave my servant? The angels say, We came to them they were praying, and we left them they were praying''. Think about it. MasyaAllah. What a beautiful performance report if is it 'bout us for the twice daily.

There also has several recitation in Quran about Fajr prayer for our references, for examples; Surrah Isra 17: 78, ''Establish prayer at the decline of the sun until the darkness of the night and recite the Quran at Fajr. Indeed, the recitation of Fajr is ever witnessed''. Here, did you noticed that Allah equally recommended in read His book in the morning time. In Surrah Fajr, 89: 1, ''By the dawn''. Reading in the morning is a very powerful habit because when you read without a distraction, you will deeply more understand the topic that being bring out. It same to reciting Quran, freshness of the morning will give you more focus and calmness like a remedy or meditation for the healthy body and mind.

After the pray, Muslims will make a dhua' as gratefulness to Allah for giving us life opportunity to gain another day and etc. Wait a minute, do you do you know about sadaqah after Fajr? From Abu Hurairah, the Prophet said, "Oh Allah, replace the better things for the people who sadaqah in the dawn''. Then, to do this please make it practice by keep one container or tube in our prayer room. After you put an small or big amount in it, follow well together with your wishes for the day. InsyaAllah with your intention to help people, Allah will give something good in return.

I missed one thing, before you start pray...you will take a ablution. The wash of certain places follow by Islamic way will give a good startup, especially the hand, face and foot. Beside, if you read some research about Islam and their prayer, you will aware about benefits movement into it. The Fajr prayer for example, give body a good automatic or little forced in certain stretching position after wake up. While sleep, some people will keep in one place or another and I called it as a good pre light exercises before big sweaty one. After all compete Fajr prayer routine, this is your first This complete task show.

MasyaAllah. I hopes the above are beneficial for all of us. Assalamualaikum.
